About Internal Medicine Physicians

An Internal Medicine Physician, also known as an Internist, is a specialized physician who focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases in adult patients.  Because their training concerns the whole body and due to their in-depth knowledge of infectious diseases, Internal Medicine Physicians are often called upon by other physicians to consult on challenging and/or puzzling cases. 

Internal Medicine Physicians are medically trained to handle advanced cases where several critical conditions can be simultaneously present.  They concern themselves with the whole body and will take all aspects of a patient’s life into account when diagnosing and treating a patient.
